Every year, SOW starts the programming year off with a Master Class about Artist Statements. This Master Class gives Members a deep dive into the purpose of an Artist Statement, how to build one, and how it can reflect their commitment to their craft. Statement Ting will ask Members to think critically about the descriptors that define who they are as an artist and what their works stands for. SOW values the voices of young BIPOC creatives and a strong Artist Statement is the most effective (and sometimes the most difficult) introduction an artist can make. 

Statement Ting will include various exercises and break-out sessions to help Members create or enhance their Artist Statement for future freelance and full-time work.

Career Mapping with SOW Alumni

SOW Alumni will walk Members through the various roles in advertising, production at a design studio or in house at a brand as well as how these roles work within the systems of other teams and departments. The goal of this Master Class is to share new industry terminology with Members, plant seeds for possible future career paths, and show them where their transferable skills can be applied across various industries.
